when Science Year launched we set out to bring high quality innovative and fun science activities to young people around England.

Since then we've been working hard on a host of different projects. Much of our work has been on a
large scale, but some of the most impressive and effective projects have been run by individual LEAs, schools or teachers.

The Heroes of Science Year resources are a celebration of this work.

The following case studies describe how the organisations and individuals concerned have gone about their amazing work and show how easy and rewarding getting involved can be. They are not 'winners' or even 'the best' - they are merely examples which we hope will demonstrate how fun, relevant and stimulating science education can be.

Throughout the resources, we've included
weblinks to help you access further information. You can also use them to connect with other organisations that can provide assistance and inspiration, such as the BA, the ASE and Science Line.

We hope that you find these
resources useful, informative and inspiring and look forward to hearing about many new, successful activities.
