01. EASTER PACK

Easter Holiday Activity Pack

Calling all parents - or anyone really. Our new Easter Holiday Activity Pack is now available to download here.

In it you'll find a range of wild and wonderful
"Eggsperiments" (experiments featuring eggs, naturally), activities using eggshells and easter egg foil, a load of quizzes, and a scientific factfile on each of those two Easter holiday standards: traffic jams and... baby animals.

We've also enrolled the services of brillian illustrator
Bill Greenhead to create some animal pictures for the 'Clone Zone'. In each, there's a pair of clones lurking - but can YOU find them? Each picture should keep young eyes busy for at least... ooh 10 minutes while you're in that traffic jam. Which is a start, right? And there are 23 facts about the science of cloning too just to maximise the learning "opportuiddy".

Bill, with the help of Katie Walsh our in-house games designer, has also produced a lucious-looking board game called 'Nobel Pursuit' in which players move around the galaxy and pursue a science career at the same time. Sounds intriguing? Just wait 'til you see it... it's been designed so that you can make your board into a 3-Dimensional adventure with just the help of some scissors and glue. Destined to become a classic!

Go on, have a look, it's all here...

03. NCPTA - FREE BOOKLET

NCPTA

More news for schools...

Planet Science, in collaboration with the ASE and the National Confederation of Parent Teacher Associations (NCPTA), has just produced a booklet designed to help and encourage PTAs and school Science Departments to work more closely together.

It's called '
Putting the Spark into Science' and it's a colourful, information-packed 8 page booklet. It includes case studies, a list of "most wanted" innovative science equipment, details of in-school science events and contact details for out-of-school events.

The idea is to raise the profile of science within PTAs and to inspire PTAs to fund
up-to-date and innovative science equipment and in-school events. It's hoped that the resource will also enable more productive working relationships to be formed between science departments and PTAs and ultimately enhance students' motivation and learning.

A
free copy of the booklet is being sent out by the NCPTA to secondary PTAs, and by the ASE to all ASE members over the next two weeks, and it's also being sent out to all heads of science in secondary schools in England.

Further information, details of how to order more copies of the booklet, and a comprehensive list of organisations providing in-school events can be found on the ASE website at http://www.ase.org.uk

You can also download and print off the booklet from the Planet Science website right HERE

You will also notice that
Planet Science has negotiated discounts with various suppliers on specific pieces of equipment. Keep checking back, as more offers will be posted up next week and on and off throughout coming months...
