Videos and cartoons are a fantastic method for engaging young
people with difficult subjects. The University of Alabama have
developed some
free video animations for use in schools, covering many aspects
of the biology curriculum. There are lots of videos on the site,
but topics of particular interest to UK schools include:
- Water Cycle
- Photosynthesis
- Diffusion and Osmosis
- Cell Division
- Nerve Action Potential

of Alberta Learning.
The University of Alberta also have several videos
which are useful for showing students what working in a biology lab
is really like. Alternatively, you can gross them out with the
video of botfly
parasitisation. Definitely not to be watched over
lunchtime.
