On 6 June 2012 we saw something very rare. No one on Earth will
live to see it again. It's called a Transit of Venus.
What is a Transit of Venus?
The planet Venus passed directly between the Earth and the Sun.
Venus looked like a small black dot travelling across the Sun.
Transits of Venus occur in pairs eight years apart. The first of
this pair was in June 2004. The next one isn't until December
Would you like to live on Venus?
Venus is the second planet from the Sun in our solar system and
the brightest planet in the night sky. But would you like to live
on Venus? Try our quiz and find out!
