For some people, science raises more questions than it answers. What precisely is the human genome, for example? Is global warming really to blame for the floods that have swept Britain in recent years? If you've ever asked yourself a question about science, you could find the answer by studying one of eight short courses available from the Open University... Each course has up to four start dates per year and takes approximately 100 hours of study to complete. As with all OU courses you study at home, in your own time and at your own pace. All study materials are supplied to you at home and you can get advice by telephone from a science short course study adviser, or via a computer conference accessed via the internet. You can treat the course as a one-off or, if you decide to continue studying with the OU, you may be able to count it towards a degree. You don't need to have a science background for many of the short courses, you need little more than an interest in science and the motivation to discover more about it.
