fab cake cornets
You will need:
1 pkt Green's Tea Time Sponge Cake Mix
1 pkt Ice Cream Cornets
Butter Icing
50g (2 oz) Butter
50-75g (2-3 oz) icing sugar
Cream the butter and gradually add icing sugar and whichever colour you wish. Chocolate flakes, hundreds and thousands, chocolate vermicelli, glace cherries etc for decorations. |
What to do:

Prepare a "cooking platform" by cutting out four holes, (wide enough to support the cornets upright), in a large cardboard plate, which will safely rest on a large bowl, and fit in the Microwave oven cavity. You might have to perform a balancing trick, but as long as the cones are supported in an upright position you'll be fine.

Make up cake mix according to instructions on Cake Mix Packet. If necessary add more water to make a batter-type consistency.

Drop a dessertspoon of cake mix into the four cornets supported on the "cooking platform" and place the bowl with cornets supported in Microwave Oven.
Microwave 1-1 minutes, the cake mix will rise up the cornets, the cake will be cooked when it is slightly 'tacky' on the top.
Allow to cool on a wire tray, the cornets might be slightly moist but on standing will crispen. Repeat until all the cake mixture is used. You will probably make about 20 cones.

When cool decorate with the various coloured butter icings - swirl icing around the cake to build up an ice-cream appearance and then decorate by dipping into the hundreds and thousands or chocolate vermicelli, or stick a small chocolate milk flake into the iced cake cornet.
The Fab Cake Cornets are ideal for children's parties or to sell on cake stalls.
