raspberry jam
It is very easy to make small amounts of your favourite jam in the Microwave Oven in under 8 minutes. Because of the speed of cooking the taste is delicious and the colour excellent.
You will need:
225g (8 oz) Fresh or Frozen Raspberries
225g (8 oz) Sugar
What to do:

In a large Pyrex bowl, Microwave the sugar for 2 minutes, uncovered.

Add the raspberries (defrosted if necessary) and stir well with a wooden spoon. Microwave uncovered until boiling point is reached, approximately 3 minutes, stirring a couple of times to ensure that all the sugar has dissolved and is not sticking to the sides of the bowl. |
TAKE CARE LIFTING THE BOWL OUT OF THE OVEN, THE JAM WILL RISE UP THE SIDES OF THE BOWL, WHICH WILL BE VERY HOT, SO USE OVEN GLOVES.

Microwave until setting point is reached approximately 3 minutes, remove from oven with care and test for setting. |

Place a drop of jam on the edge of a saucer, leave for a minute, then gently draw your finger over the surface. If a skin has formed and it wrinkles the jam will be ready. If not place back in oven for another 30-45 seconds, or until setting point is reached.

Pour carefully into sterilised jar, seal and label. |
Tip
You can sterilise jam jars in the Microwave Oven, quarter fill the jam jar with cold water, dip in your fingers and run your dampened fingers completely around the jar. (If the jar has a lid, shake the water around the jar with the lid on, remove lid). Microwave 1 minute. Everywhere the water has touched will be brought to boiling point and sterilised. Pour out the water, take care the jar will be hot, and use for jams etc.
