In 2007 we sent out 5000 packs of mint seeds and information – and we challenged schools to ‘Make a Mint’ with the mint they grew.

Queen’s college
Team name: Queens Mints

We had a wonderful time growing mint and even more fun working out the best way to distil the mint to remove as much oil as possible.’

Sandroyd School
Team name: Sandroydians

Grew mint and made mint sauce and mint tea from the leaves. Sold mint plants, tea, sauce and a mint cookbook (savoury, sweet & drinks using mint) at school fete today. Money goes to STARS, lifesaving equipment for baby unit at Salisbury District Hospital.

Woodkirk High
Team name: Woodkirk High Science Club

Team name: The Mint Mint

“We sold pots of mint. We used all recycled pots and charged different amounts depending on the pot and plant size.” All money raised is going towards the school fundraising project to build a well at our partner school in Ghana.

Shipston High School

Year 7 had a special mint club, and gained from working as a team…and realising that interesting ideas on how to use and sell mint aren't always realistic or practical!

‘Minty’ from EastEnders (Cliff Parisi) sent us signed photos (from which we made £10) and gave us permission to use his image’. (Howzat for thinking outside the box eh? EH?!)
