Building Hints and Tips:

  1. Charles Darwin speculates on giraffe evolution in his book 'The Origin of Species' ...about the giraffe's neck, how the elongated neck, fore-legs, head and tongue, are all beautifully adapted for browsing on the highest branches of trees ...the giraffe's tail, how it looks like an artificially constructed fly flapper and how the power of resisting insect attack may be of great advantage
  2. Darwin's theory of evolution by natural selection would suggest that giraffes with characteristics most suited to the environment would be more likely to survive and reproduce so that these characteristics would be passed down the generations
