DISCOVERER
At first the players are asked to "discover" a new planet, i.e. to blow up the balloon as soon as possible, and then "to inhabit" this planet with the inhabitants, i.e. to draw on balloon with the felt-tip-pen as many little creatures as possible. The player who has the greatest number of men on the balloon - is the winner.
Is there life on Mars? Well not as far as we know. The conditions on Mars are not ideal for supporting life. The atmosphere is thin and mostly composed of carbon dioxide, there is very little water and the average temperature is - 55oC! Add to that the very strong winds and vast dust storms that can engulf the entire planet for months and the possibility seems very slim. But we could be wrong…

The players are divided into two teams. Each team is given a pair of very big boots and a wide-brimmed hat. At the signal the players get on the boots, put on the hat, run to the little flag, take off the hat, make a bow, put on the hat again, return to their teams and give the hats and the boots to the next players in the teams.

THERMOMETER
Blow up a long balloon and draw a scale on the side to resemble a thermometer. Without using the hands the teams pass the fake thermometer to one another. The thermometer must always be under the left arm. The fastest team wins the game.
Bulb thermometers rely on the simple principle that a liquid changes its volume relative to its temperature. Liquids take up less space when they are cold and more space when they are warm. In the case of a liquid thermometer the liquid rises from the bulb up the tube, as it gets warmer. Liquids used are either alcohol (which has a lower freezing point than water so can measure temperatures below 0oC) or mercury (which has a boiling point of 357oC).

The Chocolate (or Jelly) Game
- Sit everyone in a circle and place a tray in the middle with a hat, scarf, gloves, knife and fork, dice and a wrapper bar of chocolate.
- In turn, players throw the dice. If they throw a SIX, they must put on the Hat, Scarf and Gloves before they start to unwrap the chocolate with the knife and fork, and then start to eat it.
- To speed up the game add a second dice and require a Double SIX.
The Jelly Variation is to turn out a set jelly onto a plate and eat it with the knife and fork.

Silhouette Who is it?
Ask the guests to fill out a simple set of questions about themselves e.g. favourite hobby, favourite band etc.
Set up a sheet or curtain so that someone can stand behind it without being seen. Set a flashlight or lamp behind it so that the shadow of the person appears on the curtain. Four people go behind the curtain and one at a time they come up. The rest of the guests sit in front of the curtain as the audience.
One person is the reader, and they read the questions. The shadow answers them then the audience has to guess who it is. Repeat until everyone has a turn.
