Back in 2003 Planet Science decided to target schools that hadn't already taken part in any Science Year/Planet Science ideas or experiences and look for projects to go into the schools to kick start extra interest in science learning.

We thought that science outreach projects would bring new experiences and additional expertise into schools, and could change how science is seen and experienced by pupils and teachers.
The Planet Science Outreach programme set out to demonstrate how all this can be achieved with schools in challenging circumstances. If you'd like to learn more about these projects and how it was done, a set of good practice materials are now available that draw on evidence collected from 3 years of independent evaluation work.
