The dome includes various sensors and other technological items. All the bits are chosen to give the kids a sense of things to come and an understanding of how various space related technology works.
It doesn’t seem very secure leaving these things out in full view in a transparent dome, but the school have not had any problems with vandalism or security since the moonbase was built.
The valuable equipment has to be kept locked away when not in use, and the children have been involved in designing a number of hi-tech alarms for the dome! |

The school is also grateful to neighbours, including the head teacher, whose houses overlook the moonbase for keeping an eye on it.
