microwave cooking

The Microwave Oven, that metal box on the kitchen unit, will do far more for you than bake potatoes, reheat meals and defrost foods.

The basic Microwave Oven will quickly produce nutritious, healthy snacks or meals, cakes, preserves even beauty products, natural decorations and gifts – all at the touch of a button – with less waste, less washing up and of course less running costs.

The following recipes and ideas are based on an 800w output oven and cooked on high unless stated otherwise.

To achieve the best results remember to:

Always use china, Pyrex and Microwave plastic never anything metallic.

Always cover with film when applicable having pierced it a couple of times or fold back the edge, to speed up cooking times.

When cooking and reheating the Microwave is even more efficient if the food is raised on a plastic grid or an upturned plate.

In general the middle of the oven is the coolest spot, the edge of the carousel being hotter.

The food will carry on cooking a little after it is taken from the oven i.e. standing time.

With a little help from an adult you will find how quickly you can be a Micro-chef producing delicious foods and super gifts.

"care to look at today's menu sir?"

conclusion

Apart from the recipes and hints you have tried, the Microwave Owen still has many more other uses:

It will melt jelly cubes to quickly make a jelly

It will soften butter for quick spreading

It will remove left over jam in jars

It will take the chill off cheap red wine

It will refresh commercially made potpourri

It will prove yeast doughs

And many, many more uses all proving that used carefully, as with any kitchen appliance, it is the most fantastic kitchen accessory we could not manage without - that metal box on the kitchen unit - use and enjoy
