buzzin'

There’s a daily battle of life and death taking place all over our planet. Around 40% of the food we eat depends on plants being pollinated by insects, including honey bees. However, insects consume 10% of the world’s food supply every year.

Bees feed on nectar and as they do so they collect pollen to fertilise other flowers. To make half a kilo of honey a bee might have to fly a distance equal to twice round the world. Honey bees navigate using the sun as a compass, even when it’s behind clouds.

Insects also feed on plants and flowers. There are more kinds if insects around today than the total of all types of other animals put together. Using the forces of weather, can you help the bees make their honey and save the plants from the insects?
