11 million takeover day
classwork
This will help you find out if your class has been paying attention!
Ask your class to answer some questions. You can write the answers down as people call them out if you want to talk about the answers further. It would be helpful if you know some of the answers, but hopefully your class will come up with a few surprises! You may run out of time so keep an eye on the clock and leave a couple of minutes to give out your homework sheets. If you have raced through and have time left at the end, you can hand out the homework sheets and let the class get to work immediately. Answers will be available the next day, so you can mark the homework then!
Question 1
What animals would need a layer of fat or blubber to help them stay warm?
Your class may come up with some of these...
Polar bear
Penguin - all species have blubber
Seal - all species have blubber
Whale - all species have blubber

You'll notice that these animals all enter the water. Animals that live in the Arctic that do not go in the water tend to have thick fur or feathers which keep them warm in air. The polar bear has both.
