brightsparks... the question window

OK - now you're cooking. And if you've ever seen "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?" you'll know what to do next...!

Each question window displays a picture, a question relating to the picture and four possible answers.

Click on one of the coloured buttons labelled A, B, C or D, to register your answer.

IS THAT YOUR FINAL ANSWER?

In fact, your first answer IS your final answer, so don't faff around!

If you get it right, a green tick will appear at the right-hand end of the button and you will get a pleasant sound effect.

If you get it wrong, a red X will appear at the right hand end of the button and you hear a not-so-pleasant noise. The correct answer that you should have selected, is then indicated by the green tick.

START THE CLOCK

The number at the lower left corner of the question panel - next to the DNA helix - shows you how many points you can score for each question. The maximum is 100.

And just to make it even more interesting, there's a time limit on it…

The longer you take to answer, the fewer points you score, down to a minimum of 50 (but you can take as long as you like to answer and still get the 50 points).

At the bottom of the window, the Score element shows your total score so far.

THE TOTALISER …

The number next to the green tick is the total number you've got right so far.

The number next to the red X is the total you've got wrong so far.

So in the example above the player has completed 8 questions, got 2 right, 6 wrong and scored a total of 180 points.

Once you've given your final answer, there's a brief pause to enable you to review the correct answer (if you got it wrong) and check your totals. The question then fades out and is replaced by the next one.

You can stop at any time - just click on the Exit button. (To prevent the system going into a tailspin though, the Exit button isn't active while questions are being fetched.)

(BTW: The grey progress bar indicates that the questions are being fetched from the web. While you're looking at the question, you may notice some activity in the progress bar. This indicates that the next question is being fetched. If there's no grey bar, then the question set has been played before, so the questions are being fetched from the Brightsparks cache folder.)

When you've answered all the questions or pressed the Exit button, you go to...

THE END WINDOW

The top sentence tells you whether you've completed all the questions or exited without completing the quiz. The centre panel shows you your total score, the number of questions you've got right, and the number you've got wrong.
