bringing science to life... Professor Lord Winston

Popular scientist and Fertility Pioneer

Professor Lord Winston is probably best known as the moustached face of popular science. Having written and presented several TV programmes including The Human Body, The Secret Life of Twins, Superhuman and Child of our Time, he has become a household name.

Apart from his more public work he is Europe’s leading fertility pioneer and has been consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist at the London Hammersmith Hospital for over 20 years.

He speaks frequently in the House of Lords on health, scientific and education issues as well as chairing the Select Committee on Science and Technology.


activities:

Pupils could bring in photographs of when they were babies and guess who is who.

Pupils could then make their own timeline using the photograph of when they were a baby and mark different stages along the timeline.

Further Activities:
Put the stages of the human lifecycle in order using the information from this website.

The children could investigate other animals, how they look after their young and how their lifecycles differ to ours.
