ABOUT THE WHODUNIT

The Planet Science Whodunit was about taking real science and wrapping it up into a series of realistic forensic investigations that pupils can do for themselves.

To make things interesting, six well-known celebrities took the roles of suspects and victim in the case...the theft of pop group Busted's lead guitarist's favourite guitar!

Here on the Planet Science website you can visit the crime scene, inspect the evidence, and get the low-down on all of the suspects. You can also download all of the free resources developed in support of the event, and find out who created this event and why.

You're the forensic scientist

All eligible school groups that registered for the Whodunit received a free Evidence Kit containing mock 'crime scene evidence' with teacher's notes, instructions and equipment. Using the kit, participants were able to systematically carry out the analysis of evidence until all but one of the suspects had been eliminated...

The kits were specially created for use by schools in England, and are closely linked to the National Curriculum. There was also a whole host of supporting online content developed- this is still available to download in the Teachers and Sleuth School sections of the site, so wherever you are, you can try some hands-on activities, surf great forensics sites and read up on the science behind fighting crime.
