Zach Shaw

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s Zach Shaw doing one of his gravity-defying bike tricks… He’s one of the most successful British BMX riders in the world - and a guy who’s turned his hobby into a super-cool, globetrotting way of life.

It all started when he was 6. The young Zach Shaw was taken along to see legendary motorbike stuntman Evil Knievel doing his stuff at Wembley Stadium - and what he saw blew his mind. From then on, there was never going to be anything else for Zach and his life began to revolve around BMX bikes and pushing himself to more and more daring stunts…

He mastered the brick high-jump ramp at the age of 8, and in his home town of Harlow in Essex, Zach began to hit the local skate parks, saving up his lunch money to pay for the entrance fee. That’s dedication!

Today he gets to travel round Europe, America, Australia and New Zealand riding the best courses against the world’s top riders. He takes part in all the big competitions around the world, and he even has a move named after him. He was the first person ever to do a backflip with a full 360-degree twist in a competition – now called the “Zakflip”!

Zach lives for his bikes… surely he wouldn’t be tempted to perpetrate a dastardly crime? Or would he…??
