Blazin' Squad
Ten plucky guys: MC Freek, Melo-d, Strider, Reepa, Krazy, Spike-e, Flava, Rocky B, Kenzie and DJ Tommy B are the talented team who make up Blazin’ Squad.
The North London combo formed in 2000 from two previously rival crews. They joined up with record producers Taps and Terry, and the result was their pumping anthem, Standard Flow, released on Blazin’ Squad’s own label, Weighty Plates.
The track blasted out of pirate radio stations and underground compilation albums – and into the ears of eastwest records. Their first eastwest single, ‘Crossroads’, was released the same week the guys got their GCSE results – and it stormed straight in at No 1 in the charts…
Two more top-ten singles and the band’s wicked debut album, In The Beginning, have followed so far, and Blazin’ Squad are doing it live in May, on their headline UK tour.
